President Obama’s Auto Advisor Steven Rattner Is Rich Bitch!

Steven Rattner, the Obama administration adviser trying to orchestrate a rescue of the U.S. auto industry, has a net worth of at least $188 million and held shares in an investment fund run by the majority owner of Chrysler LLC, according to his financial-disclosure statement.

Overall Net Worth

Rattner reported an overall net worth of between $188 million and $608 million. Government officials are required to disclose their net worth only within broad ranges. His minimum net worth was equal to about 27 percent of the $702.2 million market capitalization of General Motors yesterday and about 20 percent of that of the New York-based New York Times Co., with a value of $948.8 million.

Rattner, a former New York Times reporter, started the media-acquisition group at Morgan Stanley, a New York-based investment bank, in 1984. He moved to what was then Lazard Freres & Co. in 1989.

Airplane, Horse Farm

Rattner also owns an airplane, valued between $5 million and $25 million, used in an air charter business; and a horse farm in North Salem, New York, valued at between $5 million and $25 million.

A Non-Hybrid Gets 74 MPG.

While the Toyota Prius and the Honda Insight certainly have their merits…there are a lot of us who simply don’t want to drive around in a non-sporty 25 second zero to 60 vehicle. What if I told you that for the past 6 years, there was a non-hybrid that gets over 70 MPG, has a reputation for speed, acceleration, looks, and trendiness…Oh and to top it off, is made by BMW.

That’s right the BMW-made Mini Cooper Diesel has all of these attributes and its been available to Europeans for quite a while. There is talk of plans to release it in the states, but apparently the current Mini D’s engine is not clean enough for our shores quite yet. (Just another excuse to keep us all slaves to the gas pump) The word on the street is that we may have to wait for Mini’s next generation diesel engine which is expected to be more environmentally friendly.

3 Teens Text While Driving. 2 crash into police cars. 1 enters median, overcorrects, flips car, and dies.

No, this isn’t a joke but a problem of epidemic proportions that has caused the public to ask the following question:

Which is worse Drunk Driving or Texting While Driving? As text messaging-related accidents across the country continue to pile up, the line between the two is becoming more and more blurred. And lawmakers are scrambling to combat the problem.

Take these three recent incidents:

Incident 1:

Katelyn Blaylock, 17, rear-ended a Tampa police officer’s patrol car at a red light Wednesday because she was sending text messages on her phone, police said. The Police officer was not injured but Blaylock and her front passenger both suffered minor injuries. The police discovered that Blaylock and her two passengers should have been at school. Instead they were skipping class. The teen driver was sited for careless driving an police later delivered the girls to the assistant principal of their high school. The girls’ parents also were notified.

Incident 2:

Earlier in the week, a texter in St. Joseph, Missouri also plowed into a police squad car. The impact caused the police car to crash into a seconod squad car…sending the two police officers to the hospital.

Incident 3:

Investigators in Kansas say a 19-year-old northeast Kansas woman killed in a car accident near Manhattan Kansas was texting while driving. Ashley Umscheid died after that crash last weekend. According to reports Umscheid was texting while driving her 1995 Ford Ranger when she entered the median, overcorrected and flipped the vehicle.
